Imagi-Nations

In my mind my campaign world will be a weird and wonderful place peopled by a host of strange people and creatures. I intend to use mostly Australian manufacturers' miniatures. That means:

Eureka Miniatures who manufacture their own 15mm and 18mm figure ranges as well as distributing Grumpy Miniatures' ranges.

AB Miniatures who make 15mm, 18mm and 20mm figures in specific ranges.

Olympian Games who distribute several imported ranges.

These three are able to provide a variety of miniatures, in multiple periods and designs. I intend to focus primarily on 15mm as they are reasonably detailed and priced. While 6mm would be cheaper per figure, easier to paint, and take up less storage and table space, I'd be too tempted to go for the massed army look and end up defeating the purpose of buying 6mm in the first place. Therefore 15mm it is (maybe some 18mm too).

Eureka make some odd but interesting ranges, including 15mm Abyssinians, Almughavars, Amazonian Indians, Hawaiians, Mound Builder North American Indians, Nan Chao Chinese, Samurai, Sumerians and Tlingit North American Indians. They also stock Grumpy Miniatures' 15mm Chinese Militia, Peasants and Pirates, Indonesian and Malay, Ming Chinese, Persian, Afghan and Moghul, Tupi, and finally Yi Dynasty Koreans. In 18mm Eureka has a fine fantasy range which includes Centaurs, Elves of the Lofty Spire, Men of Grandeur, Wood Elves, Orcs, Man-Orcs, Dwarves and Trolls, all very LOTR movie-ish.

I found the old Greyhawk boxed set with hex maps of the Flanaess, these are perfect for a wargames campaign. There is a grid reference for each hex, and a host of different lands to choose from. I will have to work out resources and population figures based partly on the info in the boxed set. And I'll need to assign a figure range to each different land. Then it's a matter of choosing which land to start building an army for, and who they're going to fight.
